Health and safetyHealth and safety is of paramount importance to us
Ensuring the safety of our employees around the world is a primary concern.
Health and safety is a key element of 'Building a Great Place to Work' and integral to continued economic success and a sustainable future. We are committed to continually improving our health and safety performance through training and raising awareness of safety in the workplace.
Our Group Executive Committee and
senior management conduct regular health and safety visits to our
distribution centres and trade counters to reinforce the importance
of this vital issue. Our health and safety systems, processes and
organisation are embedded as a core activity and underpin many
wider business strategies.
Our core objective is to achieve long-term cultural change within the business, promoting good practice and behaviours amongst all employees, regardless of whether they are office-based, field-based or work at our distribution centres and trade counters.
Our
long-term aspirational goal is for 'zero lost time accidents', with
stretching annual targets to deliver safety improvements. We
have implemented a five-year global safety strategy that
has produced significant results after just one
year.
In recognition of our success we achieved a silver award in the
Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational
Health and Safety Awards 2013, an improvement over our bronze award
of last year. In Italy we also received the 'Enterprise Award for
Safety'.
