Modern Slavery Act Transparency Statement

Electrocomponents plc, trading under the brands of RS Components and Allied Electronics, is a global distributor for engineers. With operations in 32 countries, we offer more than 500,000 products through the internet, catalogues and at trade counters to over one million customers worldwide. We have a global network of distribution centres from which we ship around 50,000 parcels a day. Our products are sourced from 2,500 leading suppliers and include electronic components, electrical, automation and control, and test and measurement equipment, and engineering tools and consumables.

Our Code of Conduct sets out the high ethical standards of behaviour to which we work. Our senior managers and local leadership teams are required to read and confirm their understanding and acceptance of the Code of Conduct annually. Our policy is to source products and services from organisations that meet, or are willing to take action to meet, our ethical standards and not to engage with organisations which use child labour or forced labour.

During the financial year ended 31 March 2017, we have taken steps to assess and manage the risk of slavery and human trafficking in our supply chain. We have expanded the application of our ethical supply questionnaire to include key non-stock vendors and introduced a more in-depth ethical questionnaire and approval process as part of our global freight tender. Our global sourcing team reviews RS Pro product vendors to verify compliance with our Group standards; these are scheduled using a risk-based approach and include visits to vendors’ premises. During the year, the employees responsible for these reviews completed ISO Lead Auditor training.
