RS Components Wins 2008 Endeca Navigator Award for Pioneering Technology Solution

ELECTROCOMPONENTS, OXFORD AND ENDECA DISCOVER 2008, ORLANDO – 20 May 2008 – RS Components, a division of Electrocomponents plc, the leading international web-based distributor of electronic and industrial components, today announced that it has been honoured as a 2008 Endeca Navigator Award winner at the Endeca Discover 2008 User Conference. Awarded annually by Endeca Technologies, Inc., an information access software company, the Endeca Navigator Awards recognises innovative and pioneering applications of information access technology to solve critical business challenges. Past winners include Nike, Marriott International, Home Depot, John Deere and Circuit City.

RS Components has applied the Endeca search technology to drive sales insight in Asia Pacific. Previously, transactional customer data was stored at the customer contact level in multiple databases, which meant for a customer with multiple sites across the region, sales reports had to be manually created. By applying the same principles and user interface for filtering and search on the web, managers can instantly review sales performance across the region and drill down by product, geography, and currency.
